For the Book to Movie Reader
The Great Gatsy by F. Scott Fitzgerald
If you didn’t read The Great Gatsby in high school English (or didn’t fully appreciate it when you did), go pick it up before Baz Luhrmann’s movie adaptation hits theaters this winter.  The Great Gatsby, a classic that will never lose its charm, provides a stunning view of the Jazz Age in 1920s New York.

For the Girly-Girl

If you love history, but can only devote time for one book on WWII, The Storm of War is the book for you. Roberts chronicles key battles, figures and events to illustrate the destruction and tragedy that defined one of the most significant wars of our time.

The Cultivated Kitchen

Few things are more pleasant than spending a day in a carefully cultivated garden. Unfortunately for many city dwellers, a personal plot of green space isn’t always something that is easily accessible. As such, we suggest bringing garden varietals into the kitchen–in the form of potted herbs, cookbooks, hand painted plates, and artisanal soaps. Grab some vegetables from your local farmers market or join a CSA and you’re ready to enjoy a garden fresh kitchen lifestyle in no time.

After spending some time with this week’s 60s-inspired bouquets, we couldn’t help but search for wearable extensions of the collection.  We love these floral-accented accessories.  They exude vintage style and add a unique element of fun to any outfit. From delicate rosebud earrings to blossom covered sunglasses, these picks are perfect for adding a little retro chic to your summertime look.

Tastemaker Picks: Le Boudoir

Every so often, a little self-indulgence is necessary–a day spent in bed in silk pajamas surrounded by fresh flowers, reading a great book. This week our picks are centered around the theme of le boudoir, a collection of items chosen to inspire a sense of sumptuousness in everyday life.

We suggest curling up with Coco Chanel’s biography, collecting random thoughts in a floral Christian Lacroix journal and then drifting off for a glamorous midday slumber in a silken sleep mask.

Tastemaker Picks: The Shiny Squirrel’s Secret Garden

This week’s Gathered Garden moodboard inspired more than just our floral designs.  For choice garden-inspired picks to accompany our botanical creations, we turned to Jessica Goldfond, a natural-born tastemaker who has her finger on the pulse of New York’s independent fashion scene. Her PR company, The Shiny Squirrel, represents some of the best and brightest young talents–including Species by the Thousands, Mary Meyer and Cold Picnic.

“When I thought of Gathered Garden,” she explains of her picks, “I was thinking about a secret garden – getting back to nature, getting your hands dirty while preparing a good meal for friends.  I love the idea of a Mad Hatter teapot, old English gardens and huge mansions with sprawling gardens and secret hideouts.”
